Midwest Training Series

 

This ten-month weekend training series is designed for professionals educators, group leaders, mental health professionals, physicians, nurses, attorneys, pastors, community leaders, human resource directors, professional presenters, creative entrepreneurs, theater professionals and others who wish to energize their work and add to their range of experiential skills.

 

We will combine diverse action modalities from psychodrama to the Therapeutic Spiral Model  to storytelling to the new Family Constellation Work to explore human change, creativity, leadership, group dynamics, community-building, experience as education and other professional disciplines.

 

The series begins September 2007 in Racine, Wis., located on Lake Michigan between Chicago and Milwaukee. For maximum impact of learning and professional and personal growth, it is suggested that trainees enroll in the full series, however, we will consider trainees on a drop-in basis, space permitting.

 

All attending will receive continuing education credits for social workers, addictions counselors, licensed professional counselors and attorneys.

Ethics In Action: A Professional Training with Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP (Half day)

 

Hours vary according to length of workshop. A one-hour lunch break is scheduled; lunch is on your own or you may bring your own lunch.

 

§         One-day programs from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

 

§         Short weekends from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

 

Continuing education credits

 

Participants will receive a certificate for continuing education credits for all training programs that are part of the Midwest Training Series. CE credits have been approved for:

 

§         National Association of Alcohol and Other Drug Counselors (NAADAC)

 

§         National Association of Certified Counselors (NCC)

 

§         The American Society of Experiential Therapy (ASET)

 

In addition:

 

§         Social work credit hours are provided though association with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

 

§         Psychodrama credit hours will be given toward national certification in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy with the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy.

 

§         Continuing Legal Education (CLEs) also will be available for attorneys and other legal professionals.

 

These workshops qualify for continuing education hours as required by many national, state and local licensing boards and professional associations in other professions. It is recommended that you save the course outline and certificate of completion and contact your own board or organization for specific filing requirements.

 

Please note that the credit hours are listed a full day’s attendance. In the event of late arrival and/or early departure, amended certificates indicating the actual number of credit hours earned will be provided upon calling Karen Carnabucci at Lake House Health & Learning Center.

 

Tuition

 

Estimated cost for the program is $1,300 which includes:

 

§         All training sessions September through June including the all-day ethics program in June with optional additional ethics program.

§         Three one-hour individual supervision sessions by personal appointment, telephone, e-mail or videotaping.

§         Additional one-hour supervision sessions at a discounted rate of $50 per session.

§         Phone and e-mail contact with faculty.

§         Class materials and outlines.

§         Binder and in-depth handouts.

§         Healthy snacks, spring water, tea and coffee are available during the workshop.

§         Discounts for other workshops at Lake House, as available.

 

A payment plan may be arranged if necessary; please contact us for more information.

 

Drop-in fees for persons not enrolled in the Midwest Training Series are:

 

§         Full weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) workshops, $225

§         Two-day weekend workshops, $200 (addiction training $225)

§         Saturday only, $100.

§         Individual supervision sessions with Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, TEP, $110 per hour.

 

Scholarships

 

A limited number of partial scholarships may be available for full-time students, retirees and others with strong financial need on a first-come basis. Discounts are also available for three or more persons from the same organization. We also encourage non-profit organizations to seek grants for training programs of staff. Please call for details.

 

Additional information

 

Learners attending from a distance will have the opportunity to receive direct supervision or mini-trainings on topics of their choice on Thursday or Friday prior to the training weekend with CE hours and psychodrama hours given. Appointments for these sessions must be arranged in advance and cannot be guaranteed if they are made at the last minute.

 

Expectations

 

Expectations for trainees as a condition for remaining in the program:

 

§         Learners must be committed to professional and personal growth.

 

§         Learners are expected to attend all sessions. If a session cannot be attended due to emergency events, the learner is responsible for speaking with the instructor(s) to develop a make-up plan.

 

§         If the learner arranges a payment plan, payments must be made on schedule unless there are extenuating circumstances that must be discussed before the payment date.

 

§          

§         Cancellation policy: If for any reason the trainers do not accept a prospective learner into the training or if the training is cancelled, he or she will be refunded the full amount.

Training sessions will take place in Racine, Wis., which is located Racine, Wis., is 25 miles south of Milwaukee, Wis., and 75 miles north of Chicago, Ill. The location is easily accessible by car, Amtrak (to Sturtevant or Kenosha, Wis.), lake ferry (from Muskegon, Mich., to Milwaukee) and air.

 

For air travelers, we recommend the General Mitchell International Airport, Milwaukee, which also has an Amtrak connection to Sturtevant and a shuttle to the Radisson Harborwalk Hotel in downtown Racine.

In-Service trainings and other programs

A variety of training and in-service programs and presentations are available for organizations, group practices, boards, conferences, hospitals, seminaries, colleges, institutions, faith communities, continuing education centers, churches, synagogues, retreat programs and other sponsoring groups.

With Karen Carnabucci as the presenter, topics range from group skills and goal setting to facilitation of networking and communication, safe role play, relationship assessment and the use of action methods with topics of addiction, trauma, spirituality, creativity and personal growth.

Participants will learn the philosophy, theory and methodology of safe role play, the use of action methods for personal growth and professional treatment, the understanding of sociometry to increase positive group dynamics and the integration of the creative arts into various settings for learning, growth and healing.
